Mental Condition Of Psycopath In David Fincer's Gone Girl
There are two problem statement which are going to be discussed in this research, that are ;how id, ego, and superego of the main character as psychopath are reflected in Gone Girl movie and how ego defence mechanism of the main character is reflected in Gone Girl movie related to Freud theory.
In doing the process of the research, the researcher uses psychopath study and psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud. Psychopath is interesting topic to be analyses because it particularly discusses about an unusual psychological phenomenon. Psychoanalysis is used to analyse id, ego, superego and defence mechanism of the main character as psychopath
Therefore, the method is applied qualitative research. The objects of the research are every narration and dialogues in Gone Girl. In collecting data, the researcher uses the steps such as watching, reading, identifying, classifying, simplifying, and selecting. In analysing data, the researcher uses the step such as displaying, explaining, and interpreting.
The result of the study shows that the main character Amy in the Amy: Amy wants to look perfect in public eyes as Amazing Amy a fictional kid’s book character encourages Amy to change herself to be Amazing Amy character and she wants to be a cool girl as Amazing Amy kid’s book character.Any does it and ignores her superego that comes from her deep heart.The ego defence mechanisms that are found are identification, rationalization and projection. The function of each defences mechanisms shown in the screenplay is to repress the main character’s ego of her desire to look perfect in public eyes.
