Socialization Of Social Norm For Child In Mark Osborne's The Little Prince
This research is mostly discussing about child’s concept of ideal life by
analyzing the screenplay of The Little Prince movie. The writer uses sociological
approach, by applying Emile Durkheim’s theory to find out the concept of ideal
life. There are two problems being discussed in this research. Firstly, how
storytelling as the media of socialization in shaping child’s concept of ideal life in
Mark Osborne’s movie The Little Prince? Secondly, how storytelling affects
Little Girl’s life presented in the movie?.
The data source of this research is The Little Prince movie and the object
of the research is utterances, narrations and dialogues between main character and
other characters in The Little Prince. The writer uses descriptive qualitative
research since it is in the form of words of pictures rather than number.
Therefore, the result of the study shows that storytelling is one of the
effective media of socialization which bring many lesson, such as: It makes her
able to interact with other, knows goodness and wickedness, discipline, arrogance,
understands that people are different (adaptation), works hard, dream, struggle,
exchange, expresses disappointed, cares is the part of socialization and decides
which one is true and false.
